Sedbergh Soap Company - Our Story

Sedbergh Soap Co. is a family business and part of our working sheep & cattle farm at the foot of the Howgill Fells in Sedbergh.

Three hens looking at a basket of handmade soap displayed in strawIn May 2007, I started making my own soap because I have severe eczema and I'm allergic to the perfume, fragrance, chemicals and additives most soap contains. So you will not find any of the 'nasty stuff' in Sedbergh Soap.

In our local village people started to ask if they could buy some for themselves and to give away as presents and soon I was busy making more soap! A month later I attended our first Farmers' Market, which was a huge success with customers from both near and far. We now have customers all over the UK and abroad; so you could say that Sedbergh Soap Co. was born overnight.

Our soap is not tested on animals - it is tested on me! The fresh smell is from the 100% pure essential oils and the natural colours come from the organic herbs and plants we grow on our farm. We use a minimum of packaging, which is has already been recycled once before or is 100% bio-degradable so it can be recycled or composted - and it also allows you to smell, which soap you like best.

I hope you enjoy your Sedbergh Soap. signature
